Sharon has worked in the forex market since she was 20, starting as a Treasury Manager for the Blue Circle group of companies in South Africa. She then progressed to be the first and youngest foreign exchange chief dealer in South Africa, working for Societe Generale.
She discovered through her experiences that the customer is not being looked after by banks for various logical and commercial reasons. This gave birth to her forex outsourcing business in 1988, which she listed in 1997 and retired from in 1999.
Sharon started a new forex business in SA in 2009, of which she is still a shareholder and currently runs a forex outsource consultancy firm in the UK; Valufin, which focuses on ensuring importers and exporters do the right thing in all aspects of the forex supply chain, from order of goods or services to the financial year end.
Sharon has a governance business (Genius Methods) that carries out board evaluations for larger corporates.
Sharon is a Chartered Director, MBA and Chartered Secretary. Currently holding governance and finance CEO roles, she is Chairman of the SA Chamber of Commerce, Director of Transact SA and a Member of the CISI International Committee.
